-LAVA LAVA ISLAND VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
will be hosted by our church during the week of August 2 to 6. Lava Lava
Island is where Jesus' love flows. Please call the church office for
registration forms and other information that you may need to ask on being a
crew leader.
You're invited. Church family members
are invited to celebrate with the following couples as they exchange their
marriage vows in our church this summer: Jebeh Massaquoi and William
Eschmann on Saturday, July 3 at 4:30 p.m. and Stephanie Mercuri and Michael
Proszkow on Saturday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m.
- Planned Giving Talk and Consultation.
Paul Alexander, representative for the American Baptist Foundation will
give a lecture on Planned Giving on Wednesday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Church Parlor. Please call the church office for advance accommodation.
-Church member Mary Smith is now in a nursing
care facility in Florida. Those wishing to send cards and notes may use the

Summer Worship. On
Sunday, June 20, the service moves to 10:00 a.m.
This will stay in effect through Labor
Day weekend. Also, beginning July 4, we will worship in the Church
Parlor through the remainder of summer.
- Baby Shower. The ladies of the
church are invited to a baby shower for Roselin and Krishna Gorllapati. The
shower will be held in the church parlor on Saturday, June 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Krishna (Paul) and Roselin came from India and have recently joined our
church membership. This is the Gorllapati's first child so they will need
lots of (blue) things for the baby. Please speak with the adopted
"grandmother to be" Cindy Huddy for more information.
- Got E-mail Address? Church Family
members and friends who have access to e-mail are asked to send their
address to the church office, so these records may be updated. This will
not replace our current means of communication, but will supplement our
telephone and regular mail communications.
- Children's Sunday. On Sunday, June
13 at 11:00 a.m., the children and youth of our Sunday school will lead us
in worship as we celebrate Children's Day.
- Clarke Fellowship Outing. Members
of Clarke Fellowship will be traveling to Ruggieri's Restaurant, located at
the Ship on Rt. 1, for lunch on Monday, June 14. Members who need a ride
are asked to meet in the church parking lot at 11:30 a.m. This is an annual
outing and the last meeting until September. For more information please
speak with Peggy Blum, President of Clarke Fellowship.
- Tools of Hope. Group "Q" will again
be sponsoring "Tools of Hope" Sunday on Father's Day, June 20th. Church
members and friends will have the opportunity to give $ 5.00 gifts to help
Church World Service purchase tools of all kinds for the needy here and
around the world. On the two Sundays before Father's Day, June 6 and 13,
forms and cards will be available during coffee hour in Judson Chapel for
our church family members to once again take part in this special program to
honor loved ones and friends for Father's Day. An Honor Roll will be
printed in the church bulletin that day and in the following Witness
newsletter. Gifts may be given to Irene Hofmann or sent to the church
office not later than Wednesday, June 16.
- New Sound System. Eng'r. Frank
Hoffman wants to hear your comments and suggestions to further assess the
effectiveness of the new system. The new sound system has been installed in
the church. After some minor changes and tune ups, it is important that
Frank gets your feedbacks so he can sit down with the installer and tell him
what he congregation has found about the system to further improve its
quality. You may write your comments, good or bad, to Frank Hoffman and
hand it over to him on Sundays. Otherwise, mail to
The
Church Office.
- Scholarships.
The First Baptist
Church, Malden Scholarship Committee chair, Ms. Dorothy Foxon
announces that applications have been processed and recipients selected for
the Hillyer H. Straton and Alfred and Jeanne Jones Scholarship plus the
Lockhart and Allen Funds.
These
scholarships are awarded to students who have completed at least one year of
college and have been active members of the church for a minimum of three
years prior to making application.
The Hillyer H. Straton
Scholarship gives first preference to those pursuing a career in the
ministry or associated fields. The Jones, Lockhart and Allen funds are
available not only for those in purely academic fields but also for students
attending technical fields or similar schools. The Committee has also
considered persons in continuing education.
Applicants were asked to submit
written resume which include personal profile and aspirations. Every
applicant was carefully considered. Scholarships will be awarded during the
worship service on Sunday, June 6, 2004.
- Craft Fair is all set on
Saturday, May 22. It will open at 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- ABWM Annual Meeting with
International Pot-luck Dinner on Thursday, May 27th at 6:30 p.m.
- Men and Boys are invited to the Judson
Intercity Fellowship (JIF) Breakfast on Sunday, May 16 at 7:30 a.m. in
Medford First Baptist Church. For more information please speak with Richard
Freeman thru the
Church Office.
- Sunday, May 16 worship will be led by the
Youth Leader Core Group. All are invited to come and worship with
us. Welcome to YLC members and their advisors, parents, and friends who
would be coming along. Guest speaker is Christopher Thornhill.
-Welcome to Ms. Rebecca Abbott, our past
interim Music Minister who will be our guest organist and director of the
Sanctuary choir on Sunday, May 16.
