 Layperson of the Year 2008

 America for Christ Offering

 Church Activities...

Steven Lacey was selected as our Layperson of the Year by the Church Council, based on the number of nominations he received and the many reasons cited.

Steve has long history with our church - having attended Sunday school here as a child.  But it was only about four years ago that he started attending church again, was baptized and became a very active church member.  Here are few things people wrote in their nominations of Steve:

Steve has served on the Board of Trustees and the Long Range Planning Committee, and is now Chair of the Property Trustees.  We are certainly blessed to have Steve in our church family.  more>>

Dear Friends, In spite of its affluence and influence on the world-wide scene, the United States still remains as challenging a mission field as any other around the globe.  In our towns, our cities, and our neighborhoods dwell the same sort of needy folks as Christ associated with and ministered to.  Can we do any less as ambassadors of Christ?

National Ministries of the American Baptist Churches U.S.A. with which we are affiliated continues a widespread outreach across the U.S. and Puerto Rico to identify and confront the impediments to the spiritual and physical well-being of millions of men, women, and children. more>>

THANK YOU to all who contributed to the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.  To date $901.44 has been received which exceeds our goal of $900.00.

Quiet Moments

Why Go To Church?  Hebrews 10:19-25

A Churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.
"I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them..
So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
