Below is the letter sent through mail by our Pastor, Rev. Martha Dominy, on behalf of the Finance Trustees seeking for your prayer and financial support for the church year 2021.
December 3, 2020
Dear Church Family Members,
This year will undoubtedly go down in history for its many unforgettable events, even though many of the events we may prefer to forget. When the Deacons and I made the difficult – but I believe, correct – decision to suspend in-person worship in mid-March, we had no idea the developing COVID pandemic would change all of our lives so drastically and affect every aspect of our daily living for so long.
I am writing to you today to thank you for your ongoing support of the First Baptist Church of Malden through your thoughts, prayers, contributions of time when appropriate, and financial gifts. Even though we have not met together in person for worship, a recorded audio worship service has been provided each week on the church’s website, as well as monthly Feeding Ministry meals through Bread of Life’s meal program.
While much of our programming have been paused, the needs and expenses of the congregation continue. The Deacons have attempted to keep in contact with many in the church family through calls and cards. Through your generous giving, we have been able to continue paying the church staff, and have not had to lay anyone off. While utility costs were reduced due to less use of the buildings, service contracts, insurance, etc. are still due. Again, we have been able to meet our obligations because you continued to support the congregation with your financial gifts.
Your help is needed to help us make as accurate a projection as possible.
So, as the end of the year 2020 is rapidly approaching, we are looking at 2021 and needing to plan our budgets for next year. Your help is needed to help us make as accurate a projection as possible. Enclosed is a pledge card, which we are asking church family members to fill out with their intentions for financial support of the First Baptist Church of Malden in 2021. Your response will enable us to plan for the future.
Please prayerfully consider what you are able to give next year, fill out the card and return it to the church office by Monday, December 14. The church’s Collector and Bookkeeper, Richard Freeman, will prepare the 2021 offering envelopes at that time, and they will be sent/delivered before the end of the year.
Again, thank you for your ongoing support of the congregation in so many ways, and we look forward to being able to resume our “normal” activities when it is safe to do so.
In Christ’s Service,
Rev. Martha A. Dominy
for the Finance Trustees
You should each give as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly. And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 GNT
